How to Wear Plums, Berries, Wines, etc.

Deep, gorgeous, rich, dark plums, wines, berries - whatever you want to call them - are super, HUGE this fall.  And they can look super intimidating, especially after we have been used to bright or light colors.  But have no fear, the new moodier colors can be fun to wear for all skin tones!

Any dark berry will have a cool undertone, but wines and plums can have a brown undertone.  If you look better in cool colors, pick a shade with a purplish undertone.  If warm colors are you thing, chose a brown undertone with some reddish purple in it.

Here are a few ways to slowly work your way into the trend.  Baby steps are perfectly acceptable!

Lip stains - lips are big and dark, but they don't have to be too scary!  Start by using a lip stain, either an actual product or use a dark plum lipstick and dab it on the center of your lips blending out with your finger.  That gives you the perfect "stained" lips.

Lip glosses - there are tons of beautiful deep glosses coming out, but just use one light coat until you feel more comfortable with the color.  Once you have moved passed this stage, layer over your lip stain for instant hotness.

Eyeliner - eyeliner is super big this year, and why not kill two trends with one ... ummm, product.  Dark purple liner can look like black but it is not as harsh.  So use a dark purple liner in pencil, cream/gel or liquid format and create some super hawt looks.  Play around and see what looks you come up with.

Smoky Plum - Oooo we all love a smoky eye, and a smoky plum eye is just plain fab-u-lous!  Again not as harsh as black, and it can also make brown and green eyes pop.  The next time you are going out at night, grab your plums for an unexpected, beautiful look.

What do you think of the deep, moody hues?  Excited or leery?
