Hi, My name is Natalia. I am a 25 year old student. I have always loved how people can look with makeup (without going overboard) but somehow i never got it myself. Sometimes i got a free makeover at stores and would try to do the same at home but would never get it right cause i just didnt understand it. And then i would stop using makeup again cause it just isnt fun when you dont get it and you look weirder instead of better.

I just saw a few of Cristy's videos and sooo much became clearer i actually am excited to go try tomorrow (its late here now) again and see if i can do better.

I hope you make a lot more fantastic tutorial video's Christy. I for one would love to know when to use concealer, or other stuff for eyes (heard you talk about that in some of the video's) and how to put that on.

Natalia

(btw English is not my native language so i might make some mistakes)

Hi Natalia,

Welcome :) I am so glad you find the site and are enjoying the videos! You will get lots of great advice here, because we have all tried different products and techniques. I am sure you will do a great job with your makeup tomorrow! I can of course do a concealing video and anything else you need, just ask.

Your English looks perfect to me, I could not tell that English wasn't your first language. :) Where are you from?

Thanks for the compliment. Im from Holland. Luckily we get really good English lessons here. My writing is better then my talking though :) My boyfriend is always laughing cause i say more like "weally" then "really" "wight" instead of "right" :D

I would love a concealer/powder tutorial video for those of us with very sensitive dry skin. It officially is combination skin but the parts that are dry are really superdry. I also just dont understand the difference with concealers, foundations, powders.. i just dont get it :D

Ahhhh, ok, if your skin is oily in some parts, I imagine you are dehydrated in others. Therefore the Moisture Surge I recommended in the other thread will be good for you. My skin gets like that too, especially in the winter. I have friends that are living in Holland right now and I am sure your English is much better than their Dutch! Right now if you apply powder, it will just dry out the dehydrated part more, but once you get your moisture levels worked out, you will be able to use powder. Is any of your skin red?

I went shopping today. I cleaned out my makeup box this morning and actually needed almost everything again: eyeshadows, eyeliner, etc I was at the shop and a lady helped me with a few things. Then my boyfriend decided it would be a good idea if she would do makeup on me, telling what she did and that i would buy it so i would have a whole set of stuff without missing things. Was good idea. She stayed in my price range and was really helpfull. She helped with the foundation, i told what kinda colors i wanted, good mix of her and me.

So i bought (in random order):
clinique colour surge bare brilliance lipstick ruby glass
red earth perfect definition smooth hydrating foundation (spf 12)
BeYu Catwalk Powder Blush nr 42
Artdeco Beauty box (can hold 4 eyeshadowboxes)
a few brushes
Artdeco Perfect Teint concealer nr 1(for my red spots)
Bourjois Metallise (eyeliner) brown
Artdeco eyeshadow colors nr 19,22,29 (taupe, copper/brown, cream, all golden undertones and shimmery)
Spunges
Elizabeth Arden Lipfix Cream - I have always really dry lips, this you can apply under lipstick to make them softer, Loved my lipstick/lipcream in 1 from them so think i will love this too.

Found out im out of steps 1 and 2 of clinique almost so need to get more tomorrow (luckily its the first sunday of the month so shops are open) and then im done. I felt so good today, looked good. And after i get this down i want to experiment with more color, especially your turkoise/green spring makeup. But first think i need to learn this :) Dont want to let this makeup to go to waist like last time i did this.

I am feeling confident that i can make this tomorrow too, cause of the fact that my boyfriend was really good today and said i should not only have the makeup but also the right tools and convinced me to buy some brushes. They werent cheap but i agree that i normally just have to much trouble applying it well with the spungythingies that come with eyeshadow.

Go me!

Thnx for the help so far Critty, but dont worry.. I will have far more questions soon ;)

Oh that is great news Natalia! I am glad you got lots of products that you feel comfortable using. Just start using them right away so you won't forget about them. If I put something in the back of the drawer, it is gone for months!! And brushes are expensive, but if they are good quality, they will last a long time. I have some brushes from high school, which is far too long ago! I hope there is a gift with purchase tomorrow at Clinique :) Interesting that your stores are only open the first Sunday of the month, what is the reason? Good luck tomorrow and let us know how you made out!

Well officially shops cant be open on Sunday at all. This is because of the christian tradition that in our land is still predominant. But most people arent religious anymore so more, so the shops use a law for tourist attractions to open once a month on sunday. Its not supposed to be used for this but for a long time the law didnt care about them using it. Lately there is more protest from the government (we got ourselves a more traditional, oldfashioned government lately) about it so im hoping we will still be able to shop on sunday once a month in a year from now.

I got loads of gifts today with my purchases, including a little makeup bag from bourjois that actually looks sturdy and will be great for hauling makeup around in, in my bigger handbag. Got some parfums, miniversion mascare, nailpolish, some try versions of special products of clinique. Fun!

I am going to make a better place for me to do make up on my studytable. My bathroom is terribly small, no room to keep what so ever and no direct light, so the makeup is now stalled very far away from the bathroom and its hard to put my makeup on. On the studytable i can sit down and have everything near me. I will keep everything (a bit more) in the open in my studyroom so i can see it and will actually use it. Can it be in sunlight (not direct sunlight but light shining through window) or should it be in a drawer kept away from light? Also finally gonne put up my mirror that can enlarge.

So im already changing. My wardrobe is better.. nice basics, and i get the make up on a lot quicker when i do it.. but i dont do it even near once a week yet :D So i need to get routine in.
I want other colors then the 3 browns i have cause though i love them, they get kinda boring quickly if you dont have anything else.
I can wear bright colors, but all need to be warm. So i wear corals, warm aqua/turkoise colors, browns and beiges, that kinda stuff.

Try adding those warm colors to your makeup just do it in small steps like a turquoise eyeliner on the top lashes only ... it will pop your eyes and not be too over whelming. Chances are if it looks good near your face, it will look good on your face. A soft coral shadow will make your blue eyes pop ... or go for one more in the copper family ... it will look beautiful! Congrats on getting out of your comfort zone, a lot of people never do that :)

Hi, Im really excited. I made the trip to the only MAC store we have in Holland today. It was actually quite small but they packed it with all the products.

I bought the Select Tint SpF15 Color: NC20
and 3 colors eyeshadow: Goldmine, Aquadisiac (which you are right, is fantastic!) and Tempting. They all go good together, are different from what i had but go great with those too. I cant wait to experiment a bit tomorrow! You are right, the colors of MAC are fantastic and they had so many!

Funny btw i picked those colors on my own and then found out by the names you used those too!

I like MAC, defintely was worth the hour trip.. Might make it again in a few weeks :)
